Oscar de la Renta: Five Decades of Style: July 19 - October 5 2014 : The George W. Bush Presidential Center

A major retrospective of American fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, exploring his significant career from its origins to his most recent runway and red-carpet masterpieces. July 19 through October 5, 2014 at the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

Oscar de la Renta: Five Decades of Style celebrates the fashion designer’s inspiring life and award-winning work, exploring Mr. de la Renta’s career from its origins to his most recent runway and red-carpet masterpieces. The special exhibition at the George W. Bush Presidential Center features more than 60 garments, many on view for the first time. Highlights include clothing worn by First Ladies Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Nancy Reagan, as well as Bush daughters Jenna and Barbara. The largest and most comprehensive look at Oscar de la Renta’s 50-year career opens July 19 and runs through October 5, 2014 exclusively at the Bush Center.

Burberry Offers Monogramming for Scarves & Ponchos

Beginning this Fall season from September onwards, customers will be able to customise their purchases of scarves, as well as ponchos, from the Burberry website with their custom monograms. The latest pieces saw Christopher Bailey update classic Burberry designs which were originally created for activities including shooting, motoring and cycling, adding an equestrian touch with blanket-stitched edging. They are are dyed and spun into yarn and woven into cloth on traditional looms in Scotland at a family-run mill.

The customisation of up to three initial letters will be done at the British luxury labels facilities at Blyth on the Northumberland coast.

Through the Runway Made to Order service, customers can also pre-order outerwear and bags with their names engraved on special nameplates inside the coats and purses. The monograming service will be available at Burberyy.com from September.

Created by Ronke Ademiluyi( Founder), Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) is the biggest African event of its kind in Euroupe. A collaborative catwalk and exhibition, highlighting the industry’s established and emerged African designers, AFWL is at the forefront of capturing the surge of the African inspired trends in the fashion industry.The annual event aims to celebrate the work of African and African inspired designers in the UK and worldwide.The premiere of the annual Africa Fashion Week London was held on the 5th and 6th of August 2011, at the Gibson Hall in the city of London and attracted an audience of 4700 visitors. The two-day event also featured catwalks from 54 designers. This was followed by its sophomore edition in August 2012 at London Spitalfields which attracted over 20,000 visitors over two days and garnered international media coverage.After two successful years, the third edition of AFWL took place at the Old Truman Brewery in August 2013.
